Wafer Stacking Technology

The basic construction of a VMJ pv cell consists of stacking and bonding together a large number of P-N diffused silicon wafers. The result is a thick wafer stack, which is then cut vertically into thin VMJ pv cells. Good bonding process required to increase mechanical strength (handling and field durability) which allows stacking of many wafers, creating high voltage density devices (each wafer adds .6V to device).
MHGP continues process development to improve performance and yields. Starting in 2H 2014, MHGH will begin to scale up its production and provide customization services for potential customers and applications.
